We are very excited to invite you – and your friends and family – to join us for our next event. We are hosting the first QQ&A with a fantastic line-up of panellists, all of whom are thoughtful, informed and active leaders in the LGBTIQ community. We’re hoping it’s going to be a great night of lively discussion and debate.
When we formed the Australian Equality Party a year and a half ago we wanted to ensure we represented everyone in the LGBTIQ acronym – and others besides – and this QQ&A is aimed at doing just that. We want to acknowledge and respect each other’s differences, but focus on our shared experience of inequality and discrimination. We believe that’s the most effective way to bring about change.
The recent referendum in Ireland has given a massive boost to the marriage equality campaign here at home and we are edging very close to legislative change. We believe that change is hugely important – practically and symbolically – and will have a significant impact on our community.
But what happens after marriage equality?
Our policy platform includes more than 20 different areas, only one of which is marriage equality. We need to work on health and education, with families, in rural and regional areas, around ex-gay therapy, on issues for trans, intersex and Indigenous Australians, and on behalf of LGBTIQ people seeking asylum.
So what’s important to you?
What would you like to ask our panel?
What’s your question?
We’re aiming for a sell-out event so please share this invitation as widely as you can. We’re really looking forward to seeing you on the night.
