Better Together Conference UPDATE

The COVID-19 pandemic has continued to present challenges since our last announcement concerning our next conference in Cairns, Queensland. Our national conference, Better Together, is a significant logistical exercise that has many moving parts. The lockdowns and state border closures have affected our ability to organise a national event of this size. In addition, we've had to postpone a number of our other programs into 2022, which will further impact our capacity to stage Better Together 2022 in June in Queensland.

What does this mean?

We've decided that the best course of action is to postpone Better Together 2022 for now. This means that our 5th National LGBTIQ+ Conference will be Better Together 2023 in Adelaide (as scheduled).

Yes, we will sadly have no conference in 2022. But this way, we can focus on organising a great conference in 2023 and provide the best opportunity for as many people as possible around Australia (and internationally) to participate.

We're thrilled to be back at the Adelaide Convention Centre for our next national conference on 17-18 February 2023. Mark your diaries! We will be launching this event in April 2022.

We're excited by the prospect of 2022. Over the next few weeks, we will be updating information about our Better Together Training initiatives in 2022. Please check back often on our events page here or subscribe below to our mailing list for updates. You can also follow us on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Linkedin.

If you've already purchased a ticket to Better Together 2022, we'll be in touch, or you can contact us at mail@theequalityproject.org.au regarding your options.

We want to send a huge thanks to our key event partners: Queerspace, Business Events Cairns, Douglas Shire Council, Cairns Convention Centre, and sponsors Unusual Risks Insured, Print X One, Joy FM, including Pullman Cairns International, who have continued to support us and this event during this difficult time.

Until then, stay safe and get vaccinated.
